This tour is recommended for all those who want to look closer at the famous islands of the Northern Sporades archipelago. If you have a week holiday on Skiathos, and no time for an overnight stay on the other islands, the ideal solution for a full-of-impressions trip is one-day cruise “Meet the Sporades”.
The boat leaves from the port of Skiathos at 09:30 AM.
The way to Skopelos takes less than an hour. After landing we will go on tour around the capital of the island — the Skopelos town. It is a whitewashed town with tile roofs located on the hills. Take a walk in the town to appreciate the beauty of the narrow streets, houses, churches and Old Town. Enjoy the panoramic view from the hilltop and then just take a cup of coffee on the waterfront, watching the bustling life of the port.
You will definitely want to return to Skopelos, but it’s now time to move on to the next island — Alonissos. Speaking of Alonissos, the first to remember is the seal, as the seal-monk is the main inhabitant of the National Marine Park, created in the waters of the island. Therefore, there is no surprise that you can buy almost anything with the image of seal in souvenir shops.
Our boat arrives to the main port of Alonissos — Patitiri. The old capital of Alonissos is located to the west of the port. It is called Palia-Alonissos and was restored after a devastating earthquake in 1965.
Here we will walk through the town of Patitiri, which differs from the traditional fishing villages. After we will head to one of the beaches of Alonissos. Once we are lucky, we can see the inhabitants of the marine park (dolphins or monk seals) on our way.
At 17:30 boat returns to Skiathos.
1. You will need comfortable athletic shoes to walk through narrow and stepped streests of Skopelos and Alonissos. Don’t forget about sun protection.
2. Be sure to buy local honey on Skopelos and local tuna on Alonissos.
