Tour description

A boat trip around the island is one of the most popular excursions on Skiathos. It is a great way to relax and have good time.

The boat leaves from old port at 09:00-09:30 AM.

The first stop is Lalaria beach. Photos of this beach are one of the most famous pictures about Greece on the web. It is a real pleasure to swim at this beach. The famous rocky arch, the perfectly smooth “lalaria” pebbles and turquoise-blue sea will amaze you.

Stop at Lalaria — 1 hour.

Then boat heads to the Old Castle at Kastro beach.

Kastro is a city built on cliff top by the inhabitants in the 16th century. It was designed to protect the islanders from pirate raids. This place remembers the battles with the Turks and pirates, which are well described in the tales of Alexandros Papadiamantis. Today only two churches remained and some ruins with an artillery cannon. And a Greek flag flies proudly on the very top. After a stroll around Kastro (don’t forget comfortable non-slip shoes) you will be offered a lunch in a tavern on the beach. After you could swim if you like.

The visit to Tsougrias is rounding out the tour. Tsougrias is a small isle opposite the port of Skiathos. The island is uninhabited and only a small church can be found out there. The church is called Agios Floros and it has an amazing panoramic view straight to the sea. A gorgeous sandy beach here is full of sun loungers during the season. There is also a small café offering drinks and ice cream. What else to do in Tsougrias? To swim. To sunbathe. To meditate, looking at the sea. Isn’t this tempting?

At 17:30, the boat heads back to the old harbor of Skiathos. The rest of the evening is at your disposal.

TIPS:

1. You will need comfortable athletic shoes for this tour: Castro is a fortress on the hilltop; you will have to go on a mountain path.

2. Be sure to try out the “gavros” fish in the tavern at Castro beach — here it is one of the tastiest on the island.
