This is a former cathedral of the medieval fortress-town of Castro, which was the capital of the island during pirate raids. The church is notable for its preserved ancient frescoes of the 17th century, which haven’t been restored.
This church has been praised many times in Christmas stories of Alexanros Papadiamantis and Alexandros Moraitidis.
